Summer Fun, part 1

I expect later this summer I’ll make another post on this.

One of the awesome things this summer to develop is Quince sleeping in his own bed and bedroom better. This is still a work in progress and some nights we have been getting up in the middle of the night for an extend period of time. However, we have put away the thermarest bed that was on the floor of our bedroom. Probably the biggest piece of progress here is how no longer having the thermarest on the floor is ok with Quince. I’m very proud of him for this. Even 6 months ago the idea of removing it invoked crying, whining and the like.

In the last two weeks, his speech has grown leaps and bounds! Suddenly the sentences he was saying are almost completely understandable to us. Back in May/June he grew taller, it’s my suspicion that following the physical growth spurt he grew mentally. It’s been fun. As always he has a lot of say about everything.

DSC_6139Here we are at Ruby Beach following a drive with other MINI owners. The day was perfect for the drive and the weather at the beach even more so! Rarely have I been to the ocean when there sun and no wind. The sand was warm, the water cool and the tide was out.

IMG_2908A normal task of Quince and I is to go grocery shopping. Surprisingly he likes to go. This day he wasn’t seeming tired when we arrived but shortly after getting the cart he decided he wanted to curl up in the bottom.

IMG_2971After talking about them all the time, Quince finally got to talk to Uncle Chris and Auntie Liz via a google hangout. He was so excited. This conversation is all he talked about for the next 2 days. Now he keeps saying we will be going on the airplane to see them next. It varies from ‘leaving in 5 minutes’ to ‘on Wednesday’.

Just about 4 years ago now, I was encouraged to come and sit with these two ladies. I met them while I worked at the coffee shop, sometimes our coffee times overlapped. I made the daily pilgrimage there to get out of the house and to visit my good friend and barista also known as Zia Laura to Quince. I could not have wished for two better extra Grannies for Quince than these two ladies. He loves them, talks about them when they haven’t seem each other and gets excited to spend time with them.
