Turning 4 at Pre-school

On May 6th, Quince celebrated his 4th birthday. His pre-school has a tradition of lighting candles and walking around the circle with each candle as Teacher Bonnie reads a story about them. Previous to his birthday she asked me to write up something about each year of his life. Here’s what she read:

When Quince was born, it was 7:47 pm. He had a head full of dark brown hair and a streak of blonde hair. We wondered how long the blonde spot would stay. Four years later, we are sure it is just part of who he is, someone who just adds a little extra to everyone else’s lives. When he was 3 months old. We went to Canada visiting his daddy’s cousin and his wife. Their dog, Lucy, was playing and jumping around. He had the biggest smile and let out his first real laughter. Even today, he still laughs when watching Lucy. That fall, we started Music Together and met Teacher Bonnie. She quickly became one of his favorite people.

At one year we threw a huge open house to celebrate. He got his first haircut and was very unhappy with mama. He viewed a space event, the Transit of Venus, at our friend’s house. They gave him Paddington, who came all the way from Paddington Station in London to get to Quince. We took our first road trip down to Arizona to visit mama’s friends. Along the way we camped in National Parks. We saw many amazing sites like the Grand Canyon, bison and sulfur pools at Yellowstone and tall rock spires at Zion. Buddy Bison joined our family and has been Quince’s travelling buddy ever since.

When Quince turned two we again invited everyone over. His favorite movie was Pitch Perfect. It is all about an a capella singing group. He would dance and sing along with all of the musical numbers in the movie! It was a lot of fun. We moved into our new house this year; you got the room with the cool closet. This is also the year he discovered Lego and chocolate. He liked planes, ferries and helicopters.

At age 3, Quince asked to have a chocolate cake. He has perfected his ambulance and helicopter sound effects. The Lego Movie is his favorite, he loves to watch it and gather around all his lego friends. It is so amazing to watch Quince build and play with his lego. He loves ferries, mini coopers, stars and the color blue. He started preschool and has met so many great friends!

Today he turns 4 years old! Let the adventure continue!

Now here are some photos Teacher Wendy took. I’m sad to have missed it but at the same time, had I been there it would have been much different.
