Remembering to play

While we have seen many sights, we have spent little time just playing like kids do. I feel very fortunate to discover a small playground around the corner from our hotel.

Our first time here was yesterday late-afternoon. Clearly he was in need of active play that isn’t allowed in the hotel room.

Finally he would go into the equipment but was unsure of the other children. If they got too. Lose he would quickly retreat.

Shortly before those kids left the little girl here also arrived. She had the same reaction Quince did. When the other kids left, these two spent time playing together. They slide, ran and jumped all over the structure. Until some new kids arrived. At that point they both took a cautious stance. Bonding points included English. He very much recognizes that he doesn’t understand what is being said around him. Also they approached the situation the same.

Today our morning started with his request of hot chocolate from the Starbucks on the ground floor of the hotel. We were going to take a short walk but he asked to come back to the park.  We have nothing planned so here we are.

Since I have been typing this out two boys have come and gone. They did run around together. It’s great seeing and giving him a chance to be a kid. This trip has had few opportunities for that.

Just now, a brother and sister showed up. They are now playing a tag game together. Clearly it’s fun.
