For the past couple months we have been preparing Quince for what will be the largest trip he has taken. Two major international destinations, one unsuspecting little guy.
On the other side waiting for us, Richard’s work mates, sightseeing, and his Aunt Liz and Uncle Chris. Possibly meeting with a friend of one of Quince’s pre-school classmates family. In Hong Kong, we will also see a couple of my classmates from when I studied aboard in Nanjing.
After we parked the car we rode of the shuttles to the airport. Looking out the large windows to see the planes coming and going was enough to wake Quince back up to full power.
Freshly checked into our flight, this kid has the face of full excitement. At this point he has no idea how much waiting there is before we get to set foot into the plane.
Now 12:26 am, he’s still awake. We have viewed airplanes pulling into the Alaska Airlines hanger and a couple others drive by. During the time I went to use the bathroom, he decided he should go down to the tarmac and say hello to the workers. When I returned I was immediately asked if we could go down there.

Waiting for our turn to load onto the plane was probably the hardest part for him. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long.
As the plane loaded we quickly learned much of elite class was empty. Quince and I had row 24, two seats next to the window. I had the aisle side, he was the window. Richard was in the seat directly behind me. As it turns out there was no one booked for the seat next to him. Worked out great as Quince could switch between the two of us. Take off he sat next to Richard, that seat had the better window view. As soon as the plane left the ground he said “good job plane”. Landing and meals were also spent there. He slept in the seat next to me. During landing he didn’t want to keep his seat belt on, it got in the way of looking out the window. That was the 2nd time he put up a fuss during the entire 12 hour flight. The other one was right before he fell asleep, simply a combo of being overly tired and a lot of stimulation. His meal section was the children’s one. Which looked pretty good and arrived before everyone else was served.
As we were getting settled into our seats more, Grace and Joel passed by. None of us knew before we would be on the same flight. Nor did we see each other inside the airport. Here we are together in Taipei! Pretty awesome. They are on their way to Indonesia!
